We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Director of Software Technology and Innovation to help Crowe BGK maintain a reliable technology environment and advance the use of software across the firm. The successful candidate will combine business process insight, operational discipline, and technology expertise to improve client service, efficiency, scalability, and the employee experience. You will be Accountable for: Enterprise Software Strategy and Governance Develop and maintain the firm's multi-year application roadmap, software inventory, ownership model, and governance for selection, access, changes, integrations, renewals, and retirement. Identify capability gaps, duplication, underused or unsupported tools, and emerging opportunities; advise the COFO, partners, and leadership on priorities, investments, trade-offs, standardization, and cost. Business Process Improvement and Innovation Analyze and redesign processes across client service and corporate functions, engaging stakeholders to address pain points, control gaps, rework, data issues, and unmet needs before automation. Use data and feedback to prioritize high-value improvements and evaluate workflow, automation, analytics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies with appropriate confidentiality, quality, controls, and human oversight. Software Evaluation and Business Cases Translate business needs into measurable functional, technical, data, security, integration, control, service, and user requirements; lead demonstrations, pilots, reference checks, scorecards, vendor due diligence, and objective comparison of risks and alternatives. Prepare and present go/no-go business cases covering total cost of ownership, return on investment, timing, resources, change impact, training, risk mitigation, support, and exit costs; support commercial and contract negotiations. Implementation Governance and Accountability Serve as the accountable business and technology sponsor, partnering with the assigned Project Manager to define scope, outcomes, budget, resources, governance, milestones, decision rights, risks, communications, and success measures. Coordinate stakeholders and ensure process design, configuration, integrations, data conversion, testing, controls, training, cutover, support, readiness, stabilization, adoption, and benefits realization; escalate material gaps and maintain executive visibility. Portfolio, Vendor, Data, and Risk Management Manage software budgets, licensing, utilization, renewals, vendors, contracts, service levels, portfolio metrics, rationalization, and decommissioning. Partner with IT, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, and risk resources to govern integrations, data, access controls, business continuity, third-party risk, artificial intelligence, and automation. Change Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement Build trusted relationships with partners, leaders, staff, vendors, and service providers; lead assigned employees and cross-functional teams with clear accountability and a strong service orientation. Lead communications, training, adoption, documentation, support, and application ownership; develop internal champions, contribute to the firm's business plan, and keep the COFO and stakeholders informed. Authority and Accountability Owns the software portfolio, application roadmap, governance standards, and leadership of the IT implementation and process teams within approved strategy and budgets; may require appropriate business, security, privacy, integration, control, and implementation reviews. Recommends software selection, sequencing, renewal, expansion, consolidation, or retirement; may pause or escalate unresolved concerns and is accountable for recommendation quality, implementation governance, adoption, stabilization, and approved benefits. Measures of Success Manage current software inventory, clear ownership, disciplined governance, an approved roadmap, credible business cases, and controlled spending. Implementations delivered with effective governance, readiness, controls, adoption, sustainable support, and realization of approved benefits. Measurable improvements in efficiency, capacity, quality, data reliability, employee and client experience, vendor performance, risk management, and stakeholder confidence. The Qualifications that count: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Seven or more years of progressive experience in software, business systems, process improvement, technology transformation, product ownership, or program management, including at least three years in a leadership or enterprise-wide ownership role. Experience in an accounting firm or other professional services environment is preferred, with an understanding of partner-led decisions, deadline-driven client service, confidentiality, and change across practice groups. Proven success leading software evaluations, business cases, vendor selection, and implementation of firm-wide or enterprise SaaS solutions. Hands-on experience with process mapping and redesign, requirements, testing, training, change management, and benefits realization.
