The General Accountant will be responsible for various accounting transactions, reconciliations and analyses. This is a hands-on role requiring superior MS Excel skills, analytical experience and with a bent to process improvements and problem solving. The candidate will assist the department transition to more of a digital and technology based operation; a good opportunity for personal development. Responsibilities Process, post and digitally file daily cash receipts to customer accounts Long term debt management Manage fixed assets schedule Inventory management Business unit support; primary support with the manager as backup (requires problem solving and collaboration; good opportunity for development). Construction sub-contractor payments and holdback release Preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements Prepare and analyze various balance sheet reconciliations Various ad-hoc analysis as needed. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a similar position. An Accounting Degree or enrolment in CPA program is required. Intermediate working knowledge of Excel as a starting point. Familiar with IFRS, GAAP and ASPE. Experience in a construction or manufacturing environment would be an asset. Personable, with strong communication skills; both verbal and written. Process improvement and problem solving experience. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to be organized, meet deadlines and to prioritize responsibilities. Requirements
Requires at least five years of similar experience and an accounting degree or enrollment in a CPA program. Candidates should have intermediate Excel skills, familiarity with IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE, strong communication and organizational abilities, attention to detail, and experience in process improvement and problem solving; construction or manufacturing experience is an asset.
