Position Overview Our client, a Canadian media and broadcasting organization, is seeking a Broadcast Technician to support the day-to-day technical operations and stability of live and pre-recorded television broadcasts. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of broadcast technologies, from traditional baseband video systems to modern IT-based networking environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled broadcast professional looking to work in a fast-paced television environment. Key Responsibilities Live Broadcast Support Provide technical support during live news programming and studio productions. Ensure audio, video, transmission, and broadcast equipment operate reliably. Respond quickly to technical issues that could impact on-air operations. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on broadcast equipment. Troubleshoot studio cameras, production switchers, audio consoles, graphics systems, and routing switchers. Identify and resolve technical issues while minimizing broadcast downtime. IT & Network Support Support IP-based broadcast systems and networked storage environments. Assist with digital asset management systems and broadcast IT infrastructure. Work with network technologies supporting modern broadcast workflows. Remote & Field Operations Assist with the setup, testing, and operation of ENG (Electronic News Gathering) equipment. Support cellular bonded backpack solutions such as Dejero for field reporting. System Integration Assist the Engineering team with equipment upgrades and new technology installations. Support cabling, system integration, and technical projects within studio and master control environments. Requirements Qualifications Degree or Diploma in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. 2–3 years of technical experience in a live television broadcast or production environment. Technical Skills Strong understanding of HD/SDI video systems and audio routing. Familiarity with broadcast IT networking, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and switches. Knowledge of IP-based broadcast technologies and standards such as NDI and Dante. Knowledge of satellite downlink systems is an asset. Experience with ENG, field transmission, or broadcast networking is an advantage. Additional Requirements Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations. Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on broadcast and news requirements. Valid Ontario Driver’s License in good standing.
