Job summary
Financial Controller The Financial Controller is senior leadership position responsible for the overall financial stewardship, reporting, planning, and performance management of the Dobson Group. This role combines the traditional responsibilities of corporate accounting with the forward-looking responsibilities of financial planning and analysis. The Controller will lead all accounting functions while serving on the Executive Leadership Team, providing insights, recommendations, and financial leadership that support profitable growth across the Dobson Group's Automotive, Recreational Vehicle, Outdoor Power Equipment, Property Management, Housing, and Land Development operations. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable closing the books, presenting financial results, building budgets, evaluating capital investments, improving systems, and advising ownership on strategic opportunities. Key Responsibilities You will oversee, lead and develop the finance team, including Assistant Controllers, Payroll, AP, and AR. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and consolidations, ensuring accurate close processes, internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. Own the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning; deliver dashboards, KPIs, and performance insights across divisions. Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, credit facilities, and covenant/lender reporting. Coordinate corporate tax planning, GST/HST and payroll remittances, and CRA compliance with external advisors. Drive process improvement and automation (Microsoft 365, Power BI, AI tools) and support ERP/DMS/CRM optimization. Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the founders and Executive Leadership Team; support strategic planning, capital evaluation, and enterprise risk decisions. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 5+ years in a senior finance leadership role. Experience leading multi-company or multi-division financial operations. Strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and team leadership skills; proficient in Microsoft 365 and modern accounting/BI tools.
