Job summary
Position Overview: Reporting to the Travel Centre Manager or designated Supervisor, the Cashier/Sales Associate is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while performing daily retail and cashier operations. This role involves accurate cash handling, processing customer transactions, maintaining inventory, and ensuring proper reconciliation of sales. As a front-line representative of the Travel Centre, the Cashier/Sales Associate serves as an ambassador of the facility and plays a key role in creating a positive customer experience for community members, travelers, and visitors. The successful candidate will contribute to a safe, clean, organized, and efficient environment while ensuring operational standards are consistently met. Duties & Responsibilities * Operate the cash register and accurately process cash, debit, and credit transactions, including fuel sales and merchandise purchases * Balance and reconcile daily sales, ensuring accuracy and accountability of financial transactions * Provide professional, friendly, and timely customer service * Respond to customer inquiries and resolve concerns in a courteous and respectful manner * Stock shelves, monitor inventory levels, and assist with product ordering and receiving * Maintain organized inventory, including fuel, retail merchandise, and tobacco products * Uphold store cleanliness, appearance, and merchandising standards at all times * Perform regular inventory counts (including monthly counts and physical inventory as required) * Clean and maintain all areas of the Travel Centre, including retail space, washrooms, showers, and common areas * Ensure exterior areas remain safe and accessible, including snow and ice removal and general grounds maintenance as required * Support team members and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment * Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or Operations Leadership Team Qualifications: Education & Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent * Previous experience operating a cash register and handling financial transactions is considered an asset * Customer service experience is preferred * Familiarity with retail operations, including inventory control, is beneficial * Fluency in Cree is considered an asset * A Criminal Record Check is required prior to commencement of employment Requirements * Must have reliable transportation to attend all scheduled shifts * Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required Key Competencies * Strong attention to detail, particularly in cash handling and reconciliation * Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment * Strong organizational and time management skills * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Reliable, responsible, and accountable in all duties * Basic understanding of Indigenous tax exemptions on fuel sales is considered an asset Work Environment & Expectations * The Travel Centre is a public-facing, high-traffic tourist facility; employees are expected to maintain professionalism and represent the organization positively at all times * Responsibilities include maintaining store organization, cleanliness, and inventory control, including tasks such as dishwashing or cleaning duties when required * Cleaning duties include washrooms, showers, floors, and general facility upkeep to ensure a high standard of hygiene and presentation Work Schedule * This position follows a two-shift rotation: * Morning Shift: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. * Evening Shift: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. * During an 8-hour shift, employees receive: * Two (2) paid 15-minute breaks * One (1) unpaid 30-minute meal break (automatically deducted daily) Application Deadline: Open until suitable candidates are identified To apply, please submit your resume to the following link: https://workforcenow.adp.com/mascsr/default/mdf/recruitment/recruitment.html?cid=420a791b-3310-4960-bcc0-67ae848a9a5d&ccId=19000101_000001&type=JS&lang=en_CA [https://workforcenow.adp.com/mascsr/default/mdf/recruitment/recruitment.html?cid=420a791b-3310-4960-bcc0-67ae848a9a5d&ccId=19000101_000001&type=JS&lang=en_CA] Please note: Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
