These solutions range from web-based financial modelling tools to large, complex data administration systems. We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Developer with a strong solution design emphasis and expertise in the Microsoft back-end stack. The successful candidate, located in Toronto or Vancouver, will be self-motivated, dedicated, and passionate about technology. The incumbent will be part of a team of developers, software architects, project managers, QA, and subject matter experts in a supportive environment that encourages continuous learning. Eckler’s technology team is based in Toronto, Halifax and Vancouver, with project teams located across Canada. This posting is for an existing vacancy that we are actively seeking to fill. Roles and Responsibilities: Build high quality code that meets business, security, and performance requirements Work with senior technical and business domain experts to design a variety of software solutions Lead solution design for new and evolving systems, including defining multi-tenant architectures, data isolation strategies, and integration patterns Produce solution design documents, architecture diagrams, and technical specifications to guide development teams Evaluate architectural trade-offs and make technology recommendations aligned with team standards, scalability goals, and business requirements Support, update, and troubleshoot a variety of existing applications Collaborate with a team of software developers to ensure requirements and deadlines are met Provide mentorship and technical leadership to less experienced developers on the team Guide and oversee development activities, helping to set coding standards and ensure best practices are followed by the dev team Develop and support multiple projects as required, managing your own time appropriately and communicating progress and/or concerns to senior team members Participate in project management, including daily attendance at scrum meetings and ensuring JIRA tasks are kept up to date Follow QA processes and document work as required What you offer: Post-secondary education in computer science, mathematics, or related field 5+ years of work experience Fluent in C# and expert knowledge of .NET Expertise in MS-SQL, stored procedures, and database design Strong understanding of architectural and design patterns, including MVC, Entity Framework, multi-tenancy, CQRS, and event-driven design Demonstrated experience designing complex systems end-to-end — including multi-tenant platforms — from concept and architecture through to implementation Experience with system architecture and infrastructure design, including cloud-hosted and multi-tenant solutions Understanding of modern web standards and frameworks Experience with version control software (e.g., Git) and issue tracking software (e.g., Jira) Willingness to quickly investigate and learn new technologies Demonstrated expertise in incorporating AI-assisted development tools into daily work, with a focus on sharing knowledge and helping others improve their effectiveness through these tools Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Desire to understand our business and the pension and benefits issues that give rise to our work Assets: Experience in a tech lead role Experience in Azure hosting and development environments Experience with Kubernetes Application development experience in the pension industry, including administration systems, member-facing web sites, and modelling tools A background in actuarial science or financial mathematics, whether through education or work exposure What we offer: Collaborative and engaging atmosphere Variety in work and ability to evolve and grow your career Working with colleagues across Canada Opportunities to help build and evolve our practice Competitive total rewards package An entrepreneurial, collegial work environment Flexible hybrid work environment (minimum 3 in-office days for local employees), with openness to fully remote arrangements for qualified candidates Who we are: Eckler is Canada’s largest independent actuarial consulting firm. Requirements
