About this opportunity ELITS is looking for a Microwave Network Engineer to support our operations in Mississauga, Ontario. We are seeking an experienced engineer to plan, design, integrate, optimize, and troubleshoot microwave transport networks supporting wireless communication sites. The role focuses on microwave backhaul planning, path engineering, frequency coordination, network design, integration, commissioning, performance optimization, and technical support. You will support capacity expansion, modernization, new site build, and operational activities while ensuring engineering work meets customer requirements, Canadian regulations, and professional engineering standards. Responsibilities • Plan and design end to end microwave transport networks for new sites, expansions, capacity upgrades, modernization, migration, and decommissioning activities. • Complete line of sight studies, path feasibility reviews, tie in selection, microwave qualification, frequency planning, and interference analysis. • Prepare Engineering Design Documents (EDD), Bills of Materials (BoM), transport engineering documents, connectivity plans, data communication network (DCN) plans, work orders, configuration scripts, and implementation packages. • Develop microwave designs using Pathloss and other industry standard engineering and planning tools, and review construction drawings and vendor deliverables. • Support node integration, commissioning, Ericsson Network Manager (ENM) onboarding, Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) configuration, quality of service (QoS) implementation, licensing, and remote deployment support for field and operations teams. • Troubleshoot microwave link performance issues, alarms, connectivity failures, capacity constraints, radio issues, Ethernet transport, Internet Protocol (IP) routing, synchronization, QoS, and management network faults, while performing root cause analysis and service validation after upgrades. • Coordinate frequency assignments, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) submissions, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filings when required, licensing records, customer approvals, and regulatory compliance requirements. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field. • At least five years of experience in microwave transport network engineering, including planning, design, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting. • Hands on experience with Ericsson MINI LINK 6000, MINI LINK 6352, MINI LINK 6600, MINI LINK Transport Node (TN), ENM, Ceragon Internet Protocol 10 (IP 10), Ceragon Internet Protocol 10 Gigabit (IP 10G), Ceragon Internet Protocol 20 (IP 20), and Ceragon network management platforms. • Experience with microwave backhaul, Internet Protocol (IP) and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks, Ethernet transport, virtual local area networks (VLANs), routing, switching, DCN planning, and network synchronization. • Knowledge of cross polarization interference cancellation (XPIC), multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technology, QoS configuration, capacity planning, and network optimization. • Experience supporting Tier 1 telecommunications operators, reviewing vendor and field implementation documentation, and using Pathloss, frequency coordination tools, network planning tools, performance management tools, and Microsoft Office. Nice to have • Ericsson microwave certification. • Ceragon technical certification. • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification. • IP, MPLS, or transport network certification.
