Millwright / Heavy Equipment Service Technician ELV Select Equipment Full-Time | Permanent | $38.00–$48.00 per hour | Shop & Field Service About the Position ELV Select Equipment is looking for an experienced Millwright / Heavy Equipment Service Technician to join our growing service team. We sell, install, service, and support specialized equipment for the scrap metal, recycling, waste processing, and material handling industries, including equipment from SEDA Umwelttechnik, Terex Ecotec, Screenpod, and other leading manufacturers. This isn’t a position where you’ll work on the same machine every day. Our technicians work on everything from shredders, trommel screens, and conveyors to vehicle recycling systems, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical controls, separation systems, and specialized material processing equipment. We’re looking for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, takes ownership of their work, and wants the opportunity to become an expert on specialized industrial equipment. What You’ll Do As a Millwright / Heavy Equipment Service Technician, you’ll diagnose, repair, maintain, install, and commission equipment both in our shop and at customer locations. Your responsibilities will include: * Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational equipment problems * Troubleshoot hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and hoses * Diagnose and repair bearings, shafts, pulleys, gearboxes, and drive systems * Repair and adjust conveyors, screening systems, and material processing equipment * Troubleshoot diesel engines and related systems * Diagnose electrical faults, sensors, motors, switches, and control components * Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics * Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections * Complete mechanical repairs and component replacement * Perform equipment alignment and adjustment * Complete welding and fabrication when required * Assist with new equipment installations * Commission, test, and troubleshoot new machinery * Work directly with manufacturer technical support when required * Provide customer equipment support and operator training * Identify developing equipment problems and recommend preventative repairs * Complete accurate service reports, technician notes, photos, and documentation Field Service & Travel This is a shop and field service position. You will regularly work directly with customers at facilities such as scrap yards, recycling facilities, waste processing facilities, manufacturing plants, and other heavy industrial environments. Travel is required. Depending on service and installation requirements, overnight travel and travel within Canada or the United States may be required. Because our technicians represent ELV directly with our customers, strong communication skills and professionalism are important parts of this position. Who We’re Looking For We’re interested in candidates with backgrounds such as: * Industrial Millwright * Construction Millwright * Heavy Equipment Technician * Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic * Agricultural Equipment Technician * Industrial Maintenance Technician A 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright or 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is a strong asset, but equivalent hands-on industrial or heavy equipment experience will also be considered. Preferred Technical Experience Experience with some combination of the following would be valuable: * Hydraulic systems * Diesel engines * Industrial electrical systems * Bearings and gearboxes * Conveyors * Electric motors * Pumps and hydraulic cylinders * Mechanical power transmission * Welding and fabrication * Electrical troubleshooting * Hydraulic and electrical schematics * Industrial controls * PLC-controlled machinery Experience working with recycling equipment, crushers, screeners, aggregate equipment, material handling equipment, forestry equipment, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, or other heavy industrial machinery is considered an asset. What Matters to Us We don’t expect you to walk in already knowing every machine we sell. Previous experience with SEDA, Terex Ecotec, or Screenpod equipment is not required. What we’re looking for is someone who: * Enjoys troubleshooting and solving difficult mechanical problems * Takes pride in fixing equipment properly * Can work independently * Takes ownership of their work * Thinks through the root cause of a failure instead of simply replacing parts * Communicates professionally with customers and coworkers * Is comfortable working on unfamiliar equipment * Is willing to ask questions and learn * Documents their work accurately * Understands the importance of equipment uptime * Doesn’t require constant supervision We’ll help you learn the machines. We’re looking for someone who already knows how to think like a technician. Compensation $38.00–$48.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, licensing, and technical ability.
