About the role
Loader – Dartmouth Yard
Location: 8 Moore Rd, Dartmouth, NS
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting to: Route Supervisor
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Monday-Friday 6am
Summary:
The Loader at Miller Waste Systems is responsible for the safe and efficient collection of commercial waste streams. This role supports public health by ensuring timely service, adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and respectful interaction with the community.
**Responsibilities:**As a Loader, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service as the proper
disposal of the waste streams is vital to the health and well-being of the residents of the
community that you are servicing.
- Collect various waste streams to be delivered to local Transfer stations, Compost Facilities or landfill sites in an efficient and appropriate manner.
- Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule while following all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, Ministry of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality in which you are working.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Availability of working 44 hours a week is mandatory.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Flexibility with your work schedule is necessary as start and end times may vary. Statutory Holidays and / or Saturdays will be required at times.
- Effective written and verbal communication is mandatory.
- You must be highly productive, energetic and safety conscious.
- You must be a team player with safe working habits.
- This is a physically demanding position, so the ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly is a requirement.
- Customer service skills would be considered an asset.
