Marie Social Services POSTED: 20 hours ago Employer Batchewana First Nation ES Job ID 8096 Closing Date August 28, 2026 Salary $59,667.13- $64,006.25 Duration Full Time Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The NNADAP/Addictions Worker provides culturally responsive addiction prevention, intervention, recovery, and aftercare services for individuals, families, and the community. Through individual case management, group programming, community education, and coordinated supports, the position promotes wellness, harm reduction, and recovery by integrating traditional Anishinaabe teachings and land-based healing with evidence-informed practices. Working collaboratively with clients, Elders, community partners, and interdisciplinary team members, the NNADAP/Addictions Worker plans, delivers, and evaluates programs and services that address community needs, strengthen recovery supports, and enhance overall wellness outcomes Duties And Responsibilities Group Addiction Programming Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate addiction prevention, recovery, harm reduction, and wellness programs that integrate Anishinaabe teachings, traditional knowledge, land based healing practices, and evidence-based approaches. Collaborate with internal departments, Knowledge Holders, community members, and external service providers to ensure programming reflects both cultural and Western intervention models, including harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused approaches. Coordinate and support land-based and cultural wellness activities, such as medicine walks, harvesting, cultural camps, seasonal teachings, healing circles, peer support groups, community wellness outings, and traditional skill-building opportunities. Promote community awareness and education related to addictions, mental wellness, healthy lifestyles, recovery, and available supports through outreach initiatives, presentations, and community events. Individual Client Support and Case Management Provide assessment, support, and case management services for individuals experiencing substance use concerns, addictions, or related wellness challenges. Assess client strengths, needs, goals, readiness for change, and available supports to develop individualized wellness and healing plans. Support clients in accessing culturally grounded, community-based, and clinical services through information sharing, advocacy, referrals, and coordinated care planning. Maintain confidential client records, monitor and document progress, evaluate participation and outcomes, and provide aftercare and ongoing recovery support as appropriate. Program Development, Evaluation, and Partnerships Assist with the development, enhancement, and continuous improvement of culturally grounded addiction and wellness services through program evaluation, outcome measurement, and community feedback. Develop and maintain partnerships with internal departments, First Nation organizations, health service providers, and community agencies to strengthen service delivery and expand access to resources and supports. Maintain program statistics, reports, resource materials, and other required documentation in accordance with organizational and funding requirements. Participate in organizational committees, community events, professional development opportunities, and other activities that support program growth and community wellness. Minimum two (2) years’ experience in an Indigenous Social Services organization providing counselling, case management, and coordinating programs, events, and services. Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities. Requirements KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of Batchewana First Nation’s services/Departments and communities. Familiar with Anishawbek culture, traditions, values and the Seven Grandfather teachings. Aware of the core issues affecting individuals around substance abuse. Familiar with First Nations traditions and history. Reporting as required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Maintain accurate and concise documents. Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently, with or without supervisor. Good user level competency in computer software including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong conflict-resolution skills, de-escalation techniques, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage sensitive information. Practice and respect confidentiality.
