About the Opportunity: Reporting to the Property Maintenance Coordinator, the Property Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing general building and property maintenance. The Property Maintenance Assistant has a broad range of general handyperson skills, takes pride in the quality of their work, and is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of all enVision Community Living properties, facilities and grounds. This position performs highly diversified duties, in order to identify maintenance issues, as well as troubleshoot, provide appropriate solutions, install, repair and maintain equipment and facilities. Included in the role, are various maintenance duties, such as: drywall repair and painting, deck repairs, and performing routine preventative maintenance activities. Other responsibilities will include notifying the Property Maintenance Coordinator about any need for repairs, maintaining of records of all materials used and progress made on jobs as required. As a Property Maintenance Labourer, you would: * Perform equipment repairs and maintenance, which may include minor construction work, e.g., framing, painting, finishing carpentry work, concrete patching, etc. * Troubleshoot, install, and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment, as well as maintain various electrical components, appliances and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes. * Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the various mechanical operating systems found at enVision Community Living, including furnace systems, air conditioning systems, etc. Change furnace and air conditioning filters as needed. * Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties. * Maintain necessary records including material purchases, time spend per task, and progress report, etc. * Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. * Responsible for some yard work, some general landscaping, and the overall esthetic look of enVision Community Living property, as well as ensuring snow removal and ice safety, where applicable. * Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. * Ensure replacement and repair of broken windows, doors, door locks and closets, install/replace window blinds, etc. * Other duties as may be required. Qualifications: * High school diploma / GED. * Minimum two (2) years of related experience is considered an asset. * A building trades certificate or equivalent is considered an asset. * Knowledge and skills to perform small home renovations, with the ability to perform small repairs (e.g. caulking, replacing washers, and replacing light fixtures). * Highly motivated and able to work independently, with a high level of independent judgment and reasoning skills. * Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to create alternative solutions, while demonstrating excellent time management skills. * Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times, using effective communication skills, while maintaining confidentiality. * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and email. * Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, with a Clear Vulnerable Sector Search, and clear Child Abuse Registry Check and clear Adult Abuse Registry Check. * Valid Manitoba Driver’s License (Minimum 5 Intermediate) and access to a vehicle. * Comfortable driving within and outside Steinbach and surrounding areas (Niverville, Ste Anne, etc.) Employee Total Rewards: Education and related experience increments. Additional Info - Working Conditions: · Hours of Work: It is a Casual Permanent Position. Schedule: Monday from 8:00am to 11:00am, Wednesday from 8:00am to 12:00pm, and Friday from 8:00am to 11:00am. Note: These hours are flexible, 10 hours per week between 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
