Role Description The Family Counsellor is a full-time, on-site role based in Weyburn, SK. This position involves providing individual, couple, and family counselling, with a focus on those affected by violence, relationship difficulties, and family crises. Day-to-day tasks include conducting intake assessments, developing and implementing counselling plans, offering ongoing therapeutic support, and coordinating case management with internal and external partners. The Family Counsellor will facilitate referrals to community resources, maintain accurate and confidential documentation, and participate in outreach activities and educational presentations as needed. The role also includes collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, engaging in regular supervision, and contributing to program development aligned with client-centered and strength-based practices. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Counseling and Family Therapy, with experience supporting individuals and families impacted by violence or crisis. Background in Social Work, including knowledge of community resources, advocacy, and working within non-profit or human services settings. Ability to apply Solution Focused approaches, strength-based methods, and trauma-informed practice in therapeutic and support services. Experience with Case Management, including intake, assessment, service planning, coordination of services, and documentation. Relevant post-secondary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field, with registration or eligibility for registration with a professional body where applicable. Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients and maintain professional boundaries. Experience working with families, children, and marginalized or at-risk populations, and commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive practice. Ability to work on-site in Weyburn, SK, manage a caseload, and collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
