Senior Accountant (Contract) 📍 Mississauga, ON (Hybrid) 💰 $40–$60/hour (Based on Experience) 🚀 Immediate Start Are you an experienced Accountant who enjoys solving complex reconciliation challenges and takes pride in bringing structure to messy financial data? A well-established organization in Mississauga, is seeking a Senior Accountant for an immediate short-term project. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact by rebuilding critical bank reconciliations following the implementation of a new accounting system. The Opportunity Reporting to the Controller, you will take ownership of rebuilding approximately ten months of manual bank reconciliations dating back to the implementation of the company's new ERP system. The existing reconciliations require significant cleanup and supporting documentation. Your role will be to investigate reconciling items, rebuild the reconciliations in Excel, and create a clear, repeatable process that gives management confidence in the accuracy of the financial records. This is a highly hands-on assignment best suited for someone who enjoys digging into complex accounting issues and working independently. Key Responsibilities Rebuild approximately ten months of bank reconciliations using Excel Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items Match transactions across multiple datasets and supporting records Develop efficient reconciliation templates and working papers Create clear audit support and documentation Partner with the Controller and accounting team during onboarding before taking ownership of the project Provide daily progress updates to management Recommend process improvements to strengthen future reconciliations What We're Looking For Extensive experience performing complex, high-volume bank reconciliations Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data matching, filtering, and reconciliation techniques Strong analytical and investigative problem-solving abilities Able to work independently with minimal supervision Comfortable improving processes rather than simply following existing ones CPA designation or equivalent accounting experience is considered an asset Work Arrangement Immediate start Hybrid work environment Initial onboarding and knowledge transfer completed onsite in Mississauga Remote work available once established and working independently Qualified candidates will be interviewed immediately, and resumes will be reviewed as they are received.
