This is an entry-level production role and a direct stepping stone into a General Operator position as you build your skills and experience on our floor. YOUR SCHEDULE 4 ON 4 OFF Work 4 days, then enjoy 4 days off — every rotation. Two day shifts followed by two night shifts, then four consecutive days off. This gives you more long weekends than a standard 5-day work week. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Assist and support senior Converting and Press personnel as directed * Monitor product quality and flag deviations to your supervisor * Conduct and document inspections and testing according to quality plans * Manage scrap material and operate the baler * Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas * Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures REQUIREMENTS * High school diploma or equivalent * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality * Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently * Mechanical aptitude — candidates will be assessed as part of the hiring process * Basic computer literacy * Able to lift 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive stretching, stair and ladder climbing * Comfortable working rotating shifts including days and nights PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience working in a manufacturing environment * Experience working rotating shifts WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU * Competitive wages: $19–$20/hr + $2.00 Night Shift Premium * Comprehensive health and dental benefits * Defined contribution pension plan * Quarterly bonus program — earn more when we hit our goals * Training and development support * 24/7 on-site gym and cafeteria * Fitness membership reimbursement program * Clear path to promotion and career growth within Emmerson Packaging YOUR PATH FORWARD Career Pathway to General Operator & AIP Eligibility We welcome applications from Canadian citizens and permanent residents. We also encourage applications from individuals currently holding an open work permit. The Production Assistant role is the starting point of a defined career path at Emmerson Packaging. Here’s how it works: 1. Join as a Production Assistant ($19–$20/hr + $2 night premium) 2. Build your manufacturing experience on the production floor across Converting, Extrusion, and Printing 3. Promote to General Operator ($21–$24/hr + $2 night premium) — the role that qualifies for AIP 4. Apply for permanent residency through AIP with Emmerson’s full support as a designated AIP employer. To be eligible at this stage, you must have at least 2.5 years (30 months) remaining on your current work permit at the time of application. Please note: The Production Assistant role does not directly qualify for AIP. AIP eligibility begins upon promotion to General Operator. Candidates pursuing this pathway should ensure they have sufficient time remaining on their work permit to allow for the promotion process before AIP can be initiated.
