Health and Safety Lead

What You'll Do As a trusted partner to the business, you will: * Maintain and continuously improve Excel Homes' COR-certified Health & Safety Management System. * Partner with operational leaders to ensure safety is integrated into how work gets done. * Conduct site inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and compliance reviews. * Lead incident investigations and identify practical solutions that prevent recurrence. * Coach, mentor, and support employees, supervisors, and trade partners. * Support COR audits, Joint Health & Safety Committee activities, and regulatory compliance. * Provide guidance on WCB claims management, return-to-work planning, and modified work programs. * Monitor legislative changes and recommend continuous improvements. * Maintain a strong field presence across Alberta, including periodic travel to Edmonton. Who You Are You're a relationship builder with a strong safety foundation. You understand the realities of construction and know that safety is most effective when it is practical, collaborative, and embedded in daily operations. You can influence without authority, communicate with confidence, and strike the right balance between coaching and accountability. You are not interested in being the "safety police," nor are you willing to compromise standards in the name of production. Instead, you work with teams to find solutions that protect people, support compliance, and keep projects moving forward. The Health and Safety Specialist will maintain and improve the company's COR-certified safety management system while partnering with operational leaders to integrate safety into daily work. They will conduct site inspections, lead incident investigations, and provide guidance on WCB claims and return-to-work programs.

Candidates must have 5+ years of progressive health and safety experience within the construction industry and possess a valid Class 5 driver's license. A CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent designation is required, along with strong knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation.
