ABOUT THE POSITION The Edmonton EXPO Centre is looking for a Cook 1 to join our Culinary team. This role plays a vital part in preparing and presenting high-quality food using advanced cooking skills and modern culinary techniques, while helping deliver exceptional culinary experiences for the wide variety of events hosted at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. What You'll Do: * Use advanced cooking skills and modern culinary techniques to prepare a diverse range of high-quality food dishes. * Observe methods of food preparation; feel, taste, and smell prepared dishes, view colours, textures, and garnishments; and inform subordinates of necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards and presentation. * Communicate with the Chef de Partie as per requirements and production schedules. * Ensure the correct and timely distribution of food or products to the required location. * Rotate all items in refrigerators to minimize spoilage and prevent waste. * Ensure that all areas in the kitchen are always kept clean and tidy. What You'll Bring: * Grade 10 education. * Minimum 4 years of experience in cooking. * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. * Excellent and up-to-date culinary knowledge with a well-developed sense of taste and smell. * A commitment to quality and organization. * Ability to work well both independently and within a collaborative team environment, with the flexibility to adapt to new ideas. * Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
