Job summary
Job Role This position is responsible for the suite of corporate applications. This includes: Reengineering existing business processes to recommend more efficient business processes that can be achieved through technology. Business analysis, writing system specifications, leading technical implementation, post-implementation, and quality assurance and test reviews. Preparing project estimates, monitoring budgets, reporting on costs and identifying/resolving discrepancies. Working with all business unit’s and IT Operations to trouble shoot existing production support issues, and working problems through to resolution. Contribute to developing and presenting business cases/solutions to advance SGC business (i.e., improve existing systems or enhance technology). Leads or participates on project teams to identify and define business requirements and operational needs. Project Management Participates in project initiation meetings to define project objectives, plan priorities and strategies, identify timelines, and resource requirements. Assesses options and prepares communications for management and executive on solutions to meet requirements. Manages project deliverables and other documents, ensuring progress in accordance with planned milestones, and takes corrective action in resolving issues, determining and implementing adjustments as required. These deliverables and documents include, but are not limited to, requirements, project management charts, plans, model diagrams, status reports and presentations. Ensures that all critical, internal processes are completed as part of project delivery. Contributes to preparation of deliverables for the procurement process and participates in the evaluation of potential software applications. Plans, supports and coordinates application development, business system design, and related projects and production activities. Conducts risk assessments on projects and recommends actions to mitigate those risks. Conducts regular meetings with project sponsors to update on overall project progress. Business Analysis Collects, analyzes and documents business requirement information. Conducts analysis and identifies business needs to develop business system solutions in support of SGC’s corporate applications. Analyzes requirements, determining options and conducting feasibility and analytical studies to develop recommendations on solutions. Engages business unit(s) to develop and document user acceptance testing plans and coordinate testing. Application Support Co-ordinates the operation, support and maintenance of production applications. Identifies, diagnoses and resolves problems regarding applications during project delivery and as part of production support. Application Lifecycle Management and Planning Conducts meetings and surveys to determine future client needs. Engages vendors on application maintenance and support issues, escalation issues, new releases, and future product offerings. Assists and advises in IT strategic planning and unit work planning processes. Contributes to the building of business system plans by identifying and defining strategic business improvements and opportunities for modifications of programs to meet client requirements. Maintains current knowledge of technology advances and trends and research possible solutions in order to determine feasible alternatives, provide rational and recommendations for senior leadership approval. The impact of such recommendations may have significant financial and human resource implications for the Corporation. Qualifications Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of six to ten years directly related work experience representing continuous learning is required. A certification in project management, business analysis and ITIL is preferred. An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
