Job details
Ranch Stay Program Position: Horse Sanctuary, Organic Hay Farm Organization: Apona Healing Ranch / Hidden Budda Healing Center Housing: accommodation & food provided Type: vol./exchange Location: Toledo, Rideau Lakes, Ontario. 30 minutes north of Brockville We are a horse rescue sanctuary farm, www.AponaHealing.com/ranch, located on a 76 acre organic hay farm in Rideau Lakes, Ontario. We are just starting our organic vegetable gardens. We also offer healing retreats and vacation rental in the guesthouse, Hidden Budda Healing Center. Our founding principle is the honouring of life. We are vegan, but applicants need not be vegan. We are a quiet, small peaceful place in beautiful Rideau Lakes, Ontario, with a small lake across from us and amazing provincial parks in the area. We are looking for volunteers as part of our Ranchstay program, providing accommodation, food and a peaceful farm experience and connection with nature, in exchange for working on the farm, 4-5 days per week. We are looking for responsible, hard-working, focused, positive volunteers who can work well independently and as a team. Participants must be physically able to do farm work, such as cleaning stables, moving bales of hay, clearing brush and work in all weather conditions. We also need help with preparing the horses feed, building fences and cleaning our guesthouse, as well as chopping and stacking firewood. The work day is about 9 am to 12 noon, then 1 pm - 4pm, but hours may vary depending on the weather and what projects we are working on. For example, if hay harvest is coming in, everyone is expected to work long hours on those days to get the hay off the fields and into the barns. There is plenty of time to visit with the horses, enjoy the beautiful trees and property, as well as local lakes, tourist attractions and provincial parks. We have unlimited wifi and speak English. We do not have time to teach English. This is not a summer camp type of experience. There may be others working here, or they may only be a couple of people here. Volunteers have their own living space equipped with kitchen, bathroom and living area with good quality beds. Opportunity for future employment. Immediate availability. We offer our Ranchstay program year-round. How To Apply Send us your resume and 2 references. Positions fill up quickly, so apply as soon as possible.
