Gastronomous Technologies is looking for a hands-on Junior CNC Machinist to support prototyping and light production machining for our robotic kitchen systems. You'll work in our Oakville facility machining mechanical components — primarily for R&D and prototype builds — while also contributing to broader fabrication work as needed. Responsibilities: Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to machine prototype and production parts Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T Perform basic CAM programming or work from existing programs (Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar) Deburr, inspect, and verify finished parts against print tolerances Support other fabrication tasks — welding, sheet metal, manual machining, or assembly as needed Maintain tooling inventory and machine upkeep Qualifications: 3–5 years of CNC machining experience (hands-on school, personal/hobby shop, or professional) Comfortable on a mill or lathe (3-axis minimum); multi-axis a plus Able to read engineering drawings and basic GD&T Experience with at least one other fabrication discipline (welding, sheet metal, general fab, etc.) Familiarity with CAM software is an asset Self-directed — comfortable working with minimal supervision in a small team environment Nice to Have: Experience machining aluminum and stainless steel Background in mechanical assembly or electro-mechanical systems Exposure to a product development or prototype environment
What you’ll do
Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce prototype and production parts for robotic kitchen systems. Support broader fabrication tasks including welding, assembly, and machine maintenance.
Requirements
Requires 3-5 years of CNC machining experience and the ability to read engineering drawings with GD&T. Experience with CAM software and additional fabrication disciplines is highly desired.
