Job Summary: We are currently looking for Controls Journeyman Electricians to join our growing automation Edmonton team. As a Journeyman, you will be involved in the installation, commissioning and servicing of commercial building automation systems. This position requires a good working knowledge of electronic theory and Building Electrical / Mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities: Installs, wiring, BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations. Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of installations. Repairs and maintains low voltage systems (under 120V). Assist in delivering BAS solutions to our customer base within the Construction/Operation Department. Assist with site commissioning, point to point verifications, troubleshooting and startup of a variety of Building Automation Systems. Appropriately handles and is familiar with all testing and electrical repair tools and equipment. Perform tasks with minimum supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth GDI Health & Safety policies and procedures Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations. Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by Management. Understand fundamentals of how HVAC systems operate on commercial buildings. Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals. Qualifications: Valid Driver’s license. Experience with HVAC controls, building automation systems and VFD’s required Commercial / Construction installations experience required Clear communications in English – both written and oral. Strong trouble shooting skills. Ambitious learner who wants to progress in their career for building systems. Experience working with low voltage. Experience with programming languages or IT infrastructure an asset. Experience in PLC an asset.
