Career Opportunity GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Purchaser and QC Inspector! The Purchaser & QC Inspector is responsible for contributing to the Procurement and Quality Inspection processes. In the capacity of Purchaser, you will be responsible for implementing the organization’s purchasing process and procedures. Working with various departments, the Purchaser reviews purchasing requests, sources for quotes, creates purchase orders, and evaluates supplier service delivery. The Purchaser plays a key role in the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of purchasing goods and services. The QC Inspector role contributes directly to the quality of GeoSpectrum’s product quality control and is crucial for ensuring incoming materials meet specified standards. In the capacity of QC Inspector, you will ensure that incoming products meet purchase order specifications, component drawings and quality standards. The QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting received materials, recording and maintaining inspection results of any defects or deviations, and communicating with project teams to address any issues. This position serves as a key link between suppliers, purchasing, receiving, production, engineering, and quality to help ensure materials are ordered, received, inspected, documented, and released in a timely and compliant manner. Responsibilities Purchaser Responsibilities Perform procurement activities such as raising Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders (PO) including quoting, creating purchasing requisitions, utilizing ERP software and placing orders for standard and specialized materials, and track PO’s to ensure timely delivery. Work with the Receiving and Inventory teams to identify and address discrepancies; initiate PO changes as required. Follow-up with suppliers to ensure standard service levels are met and resolve problems as they arise. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure ongoing support and collaboration. Assist with researching, sourcing and evaluating new suppliers for standard, reoccurring products. Assist with cost analysis to find efficiencies and potential savings, reviewing various suppliers on a set schedule. Evaluate process and procedure effectiveness and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Work closely with other departments, such as production, engineering, and finance, to align purchasing processes and procedures with overall business objectives. Ensure purchasing practices comply with company policies and relevant regulations. QC Inspector Responsibilities Validate conformance of goods to engineering drawings, technical specifications and documentation requirements. Maintain accurate inspection records, raising Non Conformance reports while ensuring traceability and quality control. Ensure accepted material is properly labelled, stored, or routed to inventory, production, or the appropriate internal department. Identify products or parts that do not meet requirements and follow quarantine procedures as required. Promptly communicate identified defects and collaborate with supervisors, engineering, manufacturing, and quality representatives to resolve incoming material issues, implement corrective actions, and document actions taken. Maintain company 5S standards to support efficient and effective inspection. Qualifications Required Post-secondary education in supply chain, business administration, quality, manufacturing, engineering technology, or a related field. 3+ years experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment. Proficient experience using Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, SharePoint etc. Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing slips, drawings, specifications, bills of material, material certificates, and supplier documentation. Must be eligible for and maintain Canadian Government Security (Reliability) and Controlled Goods clearances. Preferred Proficient in software literacy. Familiarity with software such as Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP) and Material Requirements Planning Software. Experience using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other inspection equipment. Working knowledge of ISO 9001, supplier quality, material traceability, nonconforming material control, and inspection documentation. Experience using inventory, purchasing, or quality management systems. Required Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both purchasing and inspection activities. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage changing requirements, and follow up on open items. Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with suppliers and internal departments. Sound judgement and ability to identify when issues require escalation. Organized, reliable, and capable of maintaining complete and accurate records. Ability to work independently while supporting team-based operational and quality objectives. Commitment to quality, compliance, customer requirements, and continuous improvement. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office, receiving, warehouse, and/or manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements Requires standing, walking, lifting, handling parts or materials, and working at a receiving or inspection station. Require the use of personal protective equipment in designated areas. Must follow all applicable health, safety, quality, and security procedures. Security Requirements All candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security clearances.
