Position Overview Good Buds Catering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our team on a casual part-time basis. This position offers the potential for full time hours during our peak season (June–September, November, and December). Priority will be given to candidates with optimal availability and relevant prep experience, or those currently enrolled in an accredited culinary program. Ideal Candidate Profile We are seeking individuals who possess a genuine passion for food preparation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen. You should be highly organized, efficient, and eager to support our line cooks and chefs. Responsibilities Execute bulk food prep including chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing sauces according to established recipes. Measure and assemble ingredients for upcoming catering events and menu items. Maintain strict adherence to food safety, labeling, dating, and rotation (FIFO) standards. Implement proper food handling and storage procedures to minimize waste. Ensure a clean, organized workspace, including washing prep tools and sanitizing stations. Monitor food supplies and communicate inventory shortages or quality issues to the Executive Chef. Comply with all applicable safety and health regulations. Qualifications Prior experience as a Prep Cook or current enrollment in an accredited culinary program is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of basic food preparation techniques, portion control, and safe kitchen equipment operation. Proven ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow recipes and measurement scaling. Excellent time management and prioritization skills to meet strict prep deadlines. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Possession of a valid driver’s licence and ability to travel up to 150km for remote catering events (Company-provided transportation for remote events). Possession of a Valid Food Handler Certificate or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hiring. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Rate: $16.80 - $22.50 Expected Hours: 10-25 hours per week Benefits: Employee discounts on food. Flexible scheduling. Company-sponsored events. Uniform provided / Casual wear. Schedule: 4–8 hour shifts. Day and evening shifts available. Friday and weekend availability required. Supplemental Pay: Gratuities. Additional Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 1 year of professional kitchen prep or cooking experience required. Proficiency in English. In-person work location.
