Victim Services - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Labrador Region - Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada This is a highly responsible position with a mandate for the regional delivery and coordination of a comprehensive range of professional services and supports to meet the needs of crime victims (adults, children and families). This is completed by the delivery of regional services, which include providing information on the criminal justice system, assistance with Victim Impact Statements, court preparation, and referrals to professional counseling services. Victim Services Coordinators are expected to operate with a significant degree of professional autonomy while delivering services, coordinating information and using intervention strategies with criminal justice personnel and other professionals as required. The incumbent will conduct psychosocial assessments, work with appropriate resources to determine and coordinate overall case management plans, and assume a leadership role in the development and delivery of public and professional education sessions and workshops related to victimology Screening Criteria Bachelor degree in Social Work, Sociology or Psychology (equivalencies will be considered) Victim-related work experience Experience conducting psychosocial assessments and applying appropriate counseling techniques Experience working with diverse populations (asset) Assessment Criteria Knowledge of victimization Knowledge of psychosocial assessments Knowledge of applying appropriate counseling techniques Knowledge of community supports (Asset) Case management skills Ability to effectively exchange information Ability to think critically and make decisions Ability to work independently Ability to maintain confidentiality Relationship building Professionalism Conditions of Employment Conditions of Offer Recent and satisfactory enhanced security clearance Proof of valid Class 5 Driver’s License Conditions of Acceptance Willing to accept day travel (significant) Willing to accept overnight travel (occasional) Information for Applicants For more information about this opportunity please contact: Brenda Kiefte, Program Supervisor by email at BrendaKiefte@gov.nl.ca or by phone at 709-691-3192 Currently staffing for 1 Permanent Position in Happy Valley Goose Bay and 1 Permanent Position in Nain

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, or Psychology, along with experience in victim-related work and psychosocial assessments. Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and pass an enhanced security clearance.
