Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Controls Lead is responsible for supporting project teams through the effective implementation and oversight of project controls practices, systems, and processes. This role acts as a subject matter expert in project controls, helping project teams establish robust cost control, forecasting, earned value, scheduling, and reporting processes while identifying project risks and performance trends. The Project Controls Lead also provides leadership to junior team members, champions continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures alignment with Graham's project management standards and best practices. Your Role in Building What Matters – From Office to Site Lead Project Controls Excellence: Support project teams throughout the project lifecycle by ensuring proper implementation of project controls processes, systems, and best practices. Monitor project performance, identify risks and areas of concern, and provide recommendations for corrective action. Drive Reporting, Forecasting & Cost Performance: Coordinate and support project teams in cost control, forecasting accuracy, earned value management, quantity tracking, and budget administration. Develop reports and dashboards that provide meaningful project performance insights to stakeholders and leadership teams. Champion Process Improvement & Project Start-Up: Support project start-up activities including budgeting, reporting structures, and project controls planning. Identify opportunities to improve project performance, enhance reporting capabilities, and strengthen alignment between project management tools, procedures, and business processes. Provide Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a subject matter expert for project controls practices and systems. Train, coach, and mentor project teams and junior Project Controls personnel while helping drive organizational improvements and adoption of best practices across the business. Partner with Operational & Corporate Teams: Collaborate with operations, accounting, commercial management, HSEQ, purchasing, and corporate services teams to resolve complex project challenges, manage risks and changes, and support informed business decision-making. The Right Tools for the Job Education & Credentials: Diploma from a technical school or college, or a university degree in a related field. A degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. Professional certifications such as PMP, CAPM, CCP, or similar cost control credentials are considered assets. Experience: 7-10 years of progressive construction and project controls experience, with demonstrated expertise in project controls systems, processes, and best practices. Experience leading project controls initiatives and supporting complex construction projects is required. Skills & Technical Expertise: Expert-level understanding of project controls methodologies including cost control, forecasting, earned value management, and performance reporting. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project controls software platforms; experience with InEight applications is an asset. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop junior team members while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement. Strong construction industry knowledge with a broad understanding of operations, accounting, quality, HSEQ, purchasing, and commercial management functions. Working Conditions Primarily office-based role supporting construction project teams. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
