TITLE: Scientist LOCATION: Hybrid in Scarborough on average 3-4 days per week COMP RANGE: CAD $70,000 to $85,000 annually Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy. Griffith Foods is hiring a Scientist to lead Griffith Foods Canada Research & Development projects to develop new and optimized products for key clients that support the overall Griffith Foods business strategy. This is your opportunity to get hands on with science designing, testing, and refining products, scaling from bench top testing to production in a dynamic research and development (R&D) environment where your ideas truly matter. As a Scientist, your responsibilities will include: Leads and manages R&D projects, conducting scientific experiments that drive the development of new products and technologies. Recommends and evaluates new products, processes, and technical solutions based on research findings and business needs. Operates specialized equipment, evaluates materials and finished products, and supports production trials as required. Ensures compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), product safety, regulatory, quality requirements, and all company policies while maintaining accurate laboratory records. Safeguards confidential information, including product formulas and proprietary data. Provides leadership, mentoring, and training to junior scientists and team members. Collaborates cross-functionally, communicating effectively with internal departments, clients, suppliers, and participating in special project teams. Represents R&D in sensory panels and customer presentations, contributing technical insight and product expertise. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment, supporting overall operational excellence. The Scientist position is well-suited for you if you: Thrive in hands on testing and experimentation, using data, and troubleshooting to drive product improvements. Qualified candidates will have: Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Food Science or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Research & Development or a related role within the food industry. Willingness and ability to travel domestically, as required by business needs.
