Job Description Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multi-disciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Surgical Day Care and Pre-Admission Clinic. Qualifications Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing Current >3 years Surgical Day Care nursing experience or equivalent required. Current >5 years PACU nursing experience required. Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required. Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred PALS certification required at time of hire and ongoing Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required. Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures. Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias Strong patient assessment skills essential Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills Flexible, good team player with positive attitude. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers. Satisfactory employment and attendance record required. Additional Information Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating shifts-- Days and Evenings -- 7.5 hour shifts. Requirements

Candidates must have current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and over 5 years of PACU nursing experience. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and PALS, along with completion of a Critical Care or PACU nursing course.
