Hannover Re Canada is seeking a Finance Manager to join our Accounting and Finance team in our Canada office on a permanent, full‑time basis. This role will lead our technical accounting processes and oversee the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and related financial reports ensuring accuracy, transparency, and full compliance with internal and external standards. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening internal controls, managing reconciliations, and contributing to audits and key group initiatives. As the Finance Manager, you will lead and oversee the Finance team, comprised of four tech-nical accountants and two financial accountants, and report directly to the Branch CFO. You can look forward to Duties & Responsibilities Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Finance team, including review of deliverables and ongoing coaching and development. Oversee the technical accounting process, including second or third sign of accounts. Understand movements/developments and how they impact the Branch and its sol-vency. Manage all aspects of quarterly financial close including the preparation of state-ments, commentaries, and supporting documentation for Group Reporting as well as OSFI Reporting. Participate in the set-up, execution, and documentation of internal control processes relating to financial reporting requirements, including maintaining and updating pro-cess documentation. Reviewing and interpreting balance sheets, income statements, and reconciliation re-ports to ensure accuracy and consistency. Helping to identify and address risks relating to financial and regulatory reporting. Providing support to the local team in resolving reconciliation issues. Liaise and coordinate with both external and internal audit. Lead finance projects that focus on process improvement and efficiency across the end-to-end reporting cycle. Ensure the appropriate tax accounting arrangements are maintained to allow tax liabil-ities to be calculated accurately in all material respects. You come equipped with Educational Background Bachelors‘ degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or other related field Experience & Qualifications Minimum 7 years accounting experience in the P&C insurance or reinsurance industry. An accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) would be preferred. Strong and current technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Stand-ards (IFRS17 in particular) and processes implementation and development. Brings a strong sense of business insight and customer focus, paired with a hands‑on, results‑driven, “can‑do” attitude. Ability to support business development efforts with accounting interpretations and analysis of reinsurance solutions provided to cedants. Strong verbal and written communication skills including experience working with sen-ior management. Exposure to SAP, MicroStrategy, Power BI, or similar reporting tools is an advantage.
