Harbinger has partnered with a Industry leader in ICI Construction. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Financial Controller to lead our finance function and contribute to the overall financial health and growth of the organization. This role will play a key part in financial leadership, operational execution, and team development. This role is onsite, at the head office in KW-Cambridge. Reports directly to the President Key Responsibilities: Financial Leadership Develop and implement financial strategies that align with organizational goals and drive long-term success. Deliver actionable financial insights and analysis to support executive decision-making and strategic planning. Team Development Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing finance team. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and engaging team culture to drive continuous improvement and professional development. Financial Planning & Reporting Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial statements and management reports. Accounting Operations Manage day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and project accounting. Oversee outstanding AR collections and ensure proper handling of WSIB accounts. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting standards. Design and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risk. Manage financial risk exposures, including insurance coverage and bonding. Systems Management Oversee financial systems and tools (e.g., Sage 300, TimberScan, Procore). Drive process improvements and system enhancements to support financial accuracy and efficiency. Treasury & Funding Optimize cash flow and working capital management. Oversee debt facilities, lines of credit, and cash reserves to support project funding and organizational needs. Special Projects Partner with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and special projects. Contribute financial expertise to support growth, innovation, and operational improvements. Qualifications: CPA designation required. Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably in [industry, e.g., construction, real estate, etc.]. Proven leadership and team-building capabilities. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Excellent understanding of Canadian tax laws and financial compliance standards.
