We are working with one of Ontario’s more reputable contractors, based in the Newmarket area, who is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to their growing team. While the company has built a strong reputation as a mechanical contractor, their business has evolved significantly over the past several years. They are increasingly taking on projects as the Prime Contractor, with a growing portfolio of General and Civil construction work. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who wants exposure to a variety of project delivery models and is interested in working within a collaborative, high-performing team. The Role Depending on the project, the Project Manager will operate in one of two capacities: Prime Contractor – leading General/Civil construction projects and overseeing the full project lifecycle. Mechanical Subcontractor – managing mechanical scopes, primarily on high-end retrofit projects. While mechanical knowledge is an asset, it is not essential. The team is willing to support the right candidate in developing their mechanical knowledge as the company's project portfolio continues to expand. Responsibilities Manage ICI construction projects from pre-construction through completion Oversee project schedules, budgets, contracts, and deliverables Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and project stakeholders Manage project documentation, RFIs, change orders, and progress claims Monitor project costs and financial performance Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners Work closely with internal teams to resolve issues and keep projects moving forward Depending on the project, manage either the full construction scope or the mechanical scope Ideal Background The team is open to Project Managers coming from several backgrounds, including: General Contracting – Project Management Civil Contracting – Project Management, particularly building-related projects Mechanical Construction – Project Management Consulting Engineering – Project Management, specifically building projects The most important factor is strong building/ICI project management experience and the ability to successfully manage complex projects and relationships.
