Senior Data Engineer Job Type: Contract Pay Rate: CAD 55 on Inc Location: 3 days onsite (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday) What You Need to Do · Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for structured and unstructured data. · Build and optimize tables and views to support dashboards, reporting, and self-service analytics. · Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into efficient data transformation solutions. · Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technology teams to deliver reliable and scalable data solutions. · Ensure data quality, governance, scalability, and performance across large and complex datasets. · Develop robust data solutions leveraging Google BigQuery, Python, stored procedures, and cloud-native technologies. · Automate data processing workflows and implement strategies to improve data quality and overall customer experience insights. · Aggregate, prepare, and transform data for reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and advanced analytics use cases. · Provide data extraction, reporting support, and actionable insights while responding to ad hoc business requests. · Drive continuous improvement initiatives through process optimization and adoption of modern data engineering frameworks and tools. · Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. · Support analytics initiatives involving clickstream and customer behavioral data where applicable. What You'll Need to Succeed · 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a related technical field. · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline. · Strong experience designing and maintaining enterprise-scale ETL and data pipeline solutions. · Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python. · Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and cloud-based data architectures. · Strong experience with Google BigQuery, including query optimization and stored procedure development. · Experience with modern data engineering technologies such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Airflow, PySpark, Iceberg, StarRocks, and Vertex AI. · Experience working with large-scale data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift. · Familiarity with applied AI/ML concepts and their integration within data platforms. · Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and performance optimization best practices. · Retail industry experience with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions. · Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities. · Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams. · Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments while managing multiple priorities and projects. · Experience working with clickstream data and customer analytics is considered an asset. · Relevant certifications such as Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Big Data Specialty, or Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate are preferred. · ITIL Foundation certification is considered an asset. Additional Information · Reports to Manager, Interconnected & Marketing Analytics. · Limited travel required, including quarterly visits to retail store locations. · Hybrid work model with onsite presence required three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). · Office-based environment. · Physical requirements include extended periods of sitting and repetitive computer-based tasks.
