Field Technician (Level 1 / Junior) (Level 2 Senior) Job Type: Part-Time Contract (Zero-Hour / On-Demand) Contract Duration: Initial 3-6 Month Contract with Potential for Extension Location: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary (Primary Hiring Locations) Additional Locations: Ottawa, London, Montreal (Project Dependent) Reporting To: Field Technician Manager About the Role We are seeking reliable and hands-on Field Technicians to support deployment projects across Canada. This is a part-time, project-based role ideal for individuals who enjoy working in the field, travelling to customer sites, and assisting with technology installations and infrastructure projects. Successful candidates will support a variety of projects involving hardware installation, cabling, equipment deployment, surveillance systems, POS systems, GPS devices, charging stations, and related field technology solutions. Travel Requirements Regular travel within approximately 2-3 hours of your home/base location. Occasional travel to other provinces may be required. Flights, travel time, accommodation, and approved expenses will be covered by the company. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. Key Responsibilities Install and support cabling, fiber, hardware, and technology infrastructure. Assist with equipment mounting, rack installation, charging stations, surveillance systems, and POS deployments. Assemble and install technology cabinets and hardware components. Support GPS, networking, and field technology installations. Complete site surveys, equipment testing, and basic troubleshooting. Follow safety procedures and use appropriate PPE on customer sites. Maintain accurate project documentation and installation records. Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, based on project requirements. Junior Field Technician Requirements Technical diploma, trade education, apprenticeship, or related technical training. Comfortable using hand and power tools. Strong willingness to learn and gain field experience. Able to lift and move equipment as required. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Own basic PPE and tools preferred. Pay Rate: Up to $20/hour Level 1 Field Technician Requirements 3+ years of field technician, cabling, telecommunications, security systems, or similar technical experience. Experience with cabling, fiber, hardware installations, device deployments, or field services. Comfortable leading small site projects and supporting junior technicians. Strong troubleshooting and customer-facing skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Own PPE and field tools preferred. Work Schedule Approximately 20 hours per week depending on project requirements. Flexible scheduling based on project demand. Occasional evening, weekend, or after-hours work may be required. Strong performers may be considered for future full-time opportunities. Interview Process Single virtual interview via Microsoft Teams (30-60 minutes). Interview panel may include HR, Operations, Project Coordination, and Technical Project Management representatives. Must-Have Requirements Valid driver's license and vehicle. Comfortable travelling to client sites. Experience or willingness to work with cabling, fiber, hardware installations, racks, surveillance systems, POS systems, and field technology. Comfortable using hand and power tools. Ability to lift equipment and work in active deployment environments. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Available for on-demand project work.
