Sr. Android Developer Job Type: Contract until December 2026 with a strong possibility of extension Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) Pay Rate: $80-$100/hr. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative mobile applications while collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and engineering teams. Your New Role As the Android Developer, you will: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Android applications using Kotlin. Build clean, scalable, and maintainable code following modern development standards and architectural patterns. Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product managers, backend developers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality mobile experiences. Integrate third-party APIs, SDKs, and backend services into Android applications. Optimize application performance, responsiveness, stability, and scalability across Android devices. Participate in code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting activities. Support application deployment, release management, and Play Store publishing activities. Stay current with emerging Android technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices. What You'll Need to Succeed Mobile Development 3+ years of hands-on Android development experience. Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Native Android development. Strong understanding of Android SDK and Android application lifecycle. Experience developing and maintaining production-grade Android applications. Architecture & Frameworks Experience working with Jetpack Components including: ViewModel LiveData Navigation Strong understanding of MVVM architecture and mobile design patterns. Experience implementing clean architecture principles and best practices. APIs, Data & Integration Experience consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON data structures. Experience with mobile databases such as: Room SQLite Experience integrating third-party SDKs and external services. Development Practices Experience with Git and version control systems. Strong unit testing and debugging skills. Experience participating in code reviews and Agile development environments. Knowledge of Play Store deployment and mobile application release management. Nice to Have Experience with Java and migration of legacy applications to Kotlin. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks. Exposure to Firebase, Crashlytics, and mobile analytics tools. Understanding of Material Design principles. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
