This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make primary decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, both regional and PHN specific policy and procedures, the CRNS Standards of Practice, the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses, the Community Health Nurses of Canada - Standards of Practice, and PHN Discipline Specific Competencies. Knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotions, prevention, and protection are inherent in this role. This employee liaises with, and refers to, other health personnel, and other sectors and community groups. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience * Minimum of one (1) year Public Health Nursing experience is an asset. Education * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Memberships * College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) Other Education and Training * Current CPR Level C Knowledge and Abilities * Negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills. * Demonstrates flexibility by adjusting workload to accommodate client needs. * Communicate effectively orally and written with clients of varying ages * Uses critical analysis, reflective practice and assessment. * Communicate effectively orally and written socio-economic status * Ability to work collaboratively with team members and the community at large. * Knowledge in individual assessment and counselling skills * Knowledge in health promotion and prevention strategies * Demonstrated knowledge in educational resource development. * High level of accuracy in health assessment, nursing diagnosis and treatment. * Health Promotion strategies include building healthy public policy * Knowledge in community development * Ability to exercise independent nursing judgement * Ability to analyze health issues in the context of political & social climate * Knowledge of facilitation strategies * Demonstrated knowledge in media communication and social marketing. * Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing workload * Communicate effectively orally and written with targeted populations Other Information * Travel within the region and provincially * This position is multi-site and may cross former region and network boundaries to service communities The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
