Under the direction of the Primary Health Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health services to the community of the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This includes: health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals as required. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience * Three (3) years experience working as a Registered Nurse * One year experience in community needs assessment/development/health promotion Education * Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) Licenses * Valid Class 5 driver's license Other Education and Training * Experience as an RN in a primary healthcare or home care setting is an asset * Registered/eligible for registration with CRNS as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) * Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program required * Basic Life Support Level C Certificate (BLS-C) Competencies * Demonstrate Leadership and organizational skills Knowledge and Abilities * Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change * Demonstrates ability in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques * Proficient in peripheral access * Recognizes the need for holistic care for individuals, families, and groups * Excellent public relations skills * Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills * Some knowledge and practical application of central line access * Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking * Ability to apply advanced computer skills * Demonstrates ability to show initiative and self-direction * Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care Other Information * Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) * Travel within the region and provincially * May be eligible for Recruitment and/or Retention Incentives * Please Provide a cover letter and resume * Access to a reliable vehicle The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
