THE OPPORTUNITY Riverside is looking for a Sales Consultant to join its Kamloops team and support the continued growth of its residential solar business across BC. This role will manage the sales process from initial client engagement through to close, developing new opportunities through prospecting, referrals, and community relationships while also working with company-generated leads. The Sales Consultant will work closely with Riverside’s technical and operational teams to ensure clients receive accurate information, appropriate solutions, and a strong experience throughout the sales process. The ideal candidate is proactive and relationship-focused, with sound judgement and consistent follow-through. They can build trust with clients while balancing sales goals with technical accuracy and client needs. Starting with residential solar, the role offers a clear path to expand into additional products and customer segments through Riverside’s certification program. YOUR ROLE AT RIVERSIDE Own each opportunity. Respond within Riverside’s service standards, maintain consistent follow-up, and keep clear next steps in place until the opportunity is won, lost, or moved to nurture. Run disciplined discovery. Understand and qualify the client’s needs, investment, decision process, timing, and site constraints before moving into proposal development. Turn needs into approved solutions. Use Riverside’s established pricing, discovery, and proposal processes to develop solutions that align with client needs, technical requirements, and approved pricing. Close and hand off cleanly. Set accurate expectations, secure signed agreements, and provide Engineering and Operations with the information, decisions, risks, and assumptions required for a smooth transition from sale to delivery. Maintain an accurate CRM. Keep opportunity stages, values, notes, decision processes, next activities, risks, and lost or nurture reasons current to support effective pipeline management and forecasting. Build your own pipeline. Develop new opportunities through referrals, partnerships, community relationships, and targeted outbound activity in addition to working company-generated leads. Protect Riverside’s reputation. Provide accurate technical, financial, incentive, and warranty information while maintaining approved pricing, margin, scheduling, design, and performance parameters. Keep learning and growing. Complete Riverside’s certification requirements, participate in ongoing coaching and development, and continue building the knowledge required to expand into additional products and customer segments. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EXPERIENCE Required A demonstrated record of consultative selling in a consumer or business environment, with clear sales targets and results. Comfort working with both company-generated leads and proactive prospecting. Strong discovery, follow-up, presentation, objection-handling, and closing skills. Strong CRM discipline, numerical comfort, and the ability to learn and communicate technical concepts accurately. Coachability, sound judgement, personal accountability, and the confidence to ask questions when additional technical or operational guidance is required. A valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation, and the ability to work primarily from Riverside’s Kamloops office and travel for selected client meetings. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trust with prospective clients, referral partners, and community contacts. Ability to manage multiple active opportunities while maintaining consistent follow-up, organization, and attention to detail. Preferred Three or more years of experience in big-ticket, multi-step sales such as solar, construction, HVAC, roofing, electrical, home improvement, automotive, financial services, or commercial solutions. Experience with Sandler, SPIN, or another structured sales qualification methodology. Experience selling technical solutions that require coordination with estimating, engineering, operations, or installation teams. Knowledge of British Columbia communities and an interest in helping Riverside grow referral and partner channels beyond Kamloops over time. WORK LOCATION & TRAVEL Primarily on-site in Riverside’s Kamloops office. Travel within the Kamloops region is required to support client and business relationships.
