We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Engineering Team as the Assistant Powerhouse Ch ief. Responsibili ties:The Assistant Powerhouse Chief will report directly to our Utilities Services Manager/Chief Engineer and assist them in being responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of building systems equipment and facilities to provide highly reliable utility support to all HCC industrial processes and facility requirements. Equipment includes HVAC, boilers, chillers, steam turbines and engines, gas compression systems, air compressors and purified water systems, and associated mechanical and electrical systems in power generation. This position has supervisory and managerial responsibility of all onsite Operating Engineers (2nd Class, 3rd Class, 4th Class and Co-op positi ons). Assist in ensuring the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a 1st Class high-pressure steam plant, including cogeneration systems, boilers, air compressors, water treatment systems, ammonia refrigeration, air scrubbers, and related equi pment.Support the planning, scheduling, and direction of 2nd Class Operating Engineers and external contractors in carrying out corrective and preventative maintenance activ ities.Ensuring all required operational logs, utilities logs, records, and CFIA/quality documentation are completed, reviewed, and properly maintained for audit and compliance pur poses.Support the Chief Engineer in maintaining compliance with Ontario TSSA regulations and assist with required inspections and regulatory require ments.Assist in identifying the need for external resources (consultants, technical services, and contractors) and support their coordination and management as req uired.Support the training and development of Powerhouse Operating Engineers, ensuring required training is assigned, completed, and ver ified.Assist in ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of boiler and utility systems are completed and that equipment operates safely and within expected param eters.Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance pro grams.Strong engagement in the Health and Safety culture within the fac ility.Provide leadership and direction to the operating engineer team and foster a continuous improvement philo sophy.Assist in energy management initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing consum ption.Assist in the preparation and management of the annual capital and maintenance budget for all Powerhouse opera tions.Assist in the planning and execution of capital projects within the Power house. Qualific ations:A valid Ontario – 1st Class Operating Engineer's L icense.Minimum 2 years’ work experience as a 1st Class Operating/Stationary Engineer and/or 5 years’ experience as a 2nd Class Operating/Stationary En gineer.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abi lities.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing prio rities. Requirements

Requires a valid Ontario 1st Class Operating Engineer's License and at least two years of experience as a 1st Class Operating or Stationary Engineer, or five years as a 2nd Class Operating or Stationary Engineer. Candidates should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational and multitasking abilities, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
