Work Term: Permanent Work Language: English Hours: 40 hours per week Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: No experience (will train) Work setting Various locations Tasks Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy Load and unload goods Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment Perform brake adjustments Perform emergency roadside repairs Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle Perform preventive maintenance Receive and relay information to central dispatch Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo Transport and handle dangerous goods Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks) Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Documentation knowledge Driver logbook Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip) Transportation/travel experience Long-haul Security and safety Driving record check (abstract) Transportation/travel information Valid driver's licence Work conditions and physical capabilities Attention to detail Sitting Personal suitability Efficient interpersonal skills Judgement Reliability Team player Patience Employment terms options Early morning Evening Morning Night Employment terms options Day Weekend Workplace information On the road job
What you’ll do
