Horizon Aircraft is seeking an open, enthusiastic, and passionate Director of Business Development. The Director of Business Development will shape and lead our market development and strategic partnership strategy, opening new customer segments, channels, and revenue opportunities for our aircraft. This role is central to our growth plans and requires a proven track record of building new markets and strategic partnerships in aviation or aerospace, and of originating high-value, complex opportunities that convert into long-term commercial agreements. The ideal candidate can build trust with deep industry relationships and teach customers and partners how new solutions like Horizon’s Cavorite X7 eVTOL can the re-imagine their operations. Your Day-to-Day Develop and execute a market development strategy that identifies priority segments, use cases, and partners, and builds the long-term pipeline behind Horizon’s revenue targets Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with commercial operators, government buyers, leasing companies, institutional clients, plus strategic, channel, and infrastructure partners Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract negotiation and deal closure Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and partnerships, prioritizing accounts where Horizon can deliver differentiated value Develop compelling commercial insights and business cases that reframe how customers think about regional air mobility Map complex buying groups and cultivate long-term relationships with key decision-makers, buyers, and industry stakeholders, identifying and equipping internal champions Represent Horizon Aircraft at industry trade shows, conferences, and client meetings across the globe Collaborate with engineering, finance, and legal teams to structure tailored proposals, partnership agreements, and contracts with a focus on delivering customer value Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform business development strategy Prepare and present business development forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance metrics to senior leadership Lead negotiation of strategic partnership agreements, MOUs, and LOIs that meet both customer needs and company objectives The ideal candidates are likely to have the following background: Proven track record of business development in aviation or aerospace (commercial, business, general aviation, or advanced air mobility), including opening new markets or partnerships that generated measurable revenue Demonstrated ability originate and close complex, high-value, multi-stakeholder opportunities Minimum 7–10 years of experience in aviation sales, business development, or a related field Established network of contacts within the aviation industry (operators, buyers, brokers, leasing firms) Strong understanding of aircraft specifications, pricing structures, and market dynamics Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills, with the confidence to challenge customer assumptions and traditional aerospace norms. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Willingness to travel extensively for client meetings, trade shows, and industry events Preferred Qualifications Existing relationships with commercial airlines, charter operators, or private aviation buyers Proven experience in VTOL or helicopter business development is an asset Experience structuring strategic partnerships, launch-customer programs or joint ventures for emerging technologies Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management tools Familiarity with aircraft financing, leasing structures, and regulatory considerations MBA or advanced degree in a related field Our Benefits. Requirements
