Job Title: Electrical & Electronics Design Engineer (Contract) Location: Toronto, ON, Canada Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Electronics Design Engineer for a contract role in Toronto, ON. In this position, you will develop electrical concepts, design system architectures, create PCB layouts/schematics, and support existing commercial platforms. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, software, manufacturing), you will drive prototype integration, product testing, DFMEA risk assessments, and continuous engineering improvements. Key Responsibilities Electrical Architecture & Design: Develop electrical concepts, system architectures, schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable assembly documentation. Development & Prototyping: Support electronics development using Altium Designer; participate in hands-on prototype builds, product integration, and system verification. Testing & Troubleshooting: Formulate and execute test plans; perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting for complex electrical and system-level issues. Design Reviews & Compliance: Participate in technical feasibility assessments, design reviews, and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) activities. Lifecycle & Operations Support: Support existing commercial platforms through design updates, engineering change management (ECO/ECN), and technical guidance for manufacturing and field teams. Qualifications & Requirements Mandatory Requirements: Experience: Minimum 8 years of electrical engineering or design experience focused on embedded systems, electronics, robotics, or complex electromechanical platforms. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline. Technical Skills: Strong background in electrical architecture, schematics, PCB layout, wiring diagrams, and hands-on system troubleshooting. Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Considered Assets: Advanced proficiency with Altium Designer. Knowledge of sensors, communication interfaces, battery-powered systems, charging circuits, and Battery Management Systems (BMS). Familiarity with component selection, supply chain considerations, and product lifecycle management. Experience working in robotics, inspection technologies, or similar high-tech product environments. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
