Position: Junior Mechanical Estimator (Graduate Entry-Level) Type: Full-Time, Office-Based (Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM) Pay: $18.00–$20.00/hr (3-Month Probation) | Start: ASAP Overview We are looking for a motivated recent Mechanical Engineering graduate to join our team. This role focuses on estimating institutional and ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) mechanical projects ranging from $500K to $5M+. No prior estimating experience required—we will provide full hands-on training in our software, takeoff methods, and bidding strategies. You bring the core technical degree, numerical skills, and eagerness to learn; we’ll teach you the industry. Key Responsibilities Drawings & Takeoffs: Read mechanical specs/drawings and perform material/labor quantity takeoffs for plumbing, hydronics, heating, and equipment. Procurement & RFQs: Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to suppliers and sub-trades, then review quotes for scope accuracy and competitive pricing. Costing & Documentation: Assist the Senior Estimator in compiling full tender pricing, organizing spreadsheets, and updating estimates based on addenda. Change Orders: Perform takeoffs and pricing updates for active project change orders. What We’re Looking For Education: Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering Technology (recent graduates strongly encouraged). Core Knowledge: Good foundational understanding of HVAC, plumbing, hydronic/piping systems, valves, and mechanical equipment. Software: Proficient in MS Excel and Outlook. (Training provided for Trimble and proprietary estimating software). Key Traits: High attention to detail, strong numerical/analytical skills, self-motivated, trainable, and comfortable communicating with suppliers under tight tender deadlines. Growth & Expectations Within 6–12 months, you will learn to independently run full takeoffs, scope vendors, and build complete mechanical bids.
