Job summary
Put your command of English to work training frontier AI iMerit, an EXL Company, is hiring English Language Specialists to bring precise, native-quality language judgment to multimodal AI systems — the ones combining text, image, video, and audio — used by some of the world's leading AI labs. This is advanced work: you'll compare subtle differences between AI outputs, catch errors a less careful eye would miss, and write and annotate nuanced content in video and image. Your ear for language and eye for detail matter more than speed. What you'll actually be doing Compare and evaluate subtle differences between AI-generated images and outputs Catch and document errors in image outputs or annotations Annotate objects, actions, and inferred intent in video content Write clear, precise annotations in fluent, publication-quality English Work from detailed guidelines (often 20+ pages) with strict formatting and content rules Incorporate reviewer/QA feedback to continuously sharpen accuracy Tasks can run 4+ hours and require sustained focus. You'll sometimes work directly on customer platforms, where the quality bar is very high. This role is a strong fit if you Write fluent, polished English with excellent grammar, style, and an editor's eye for nuance Have 1+ year of experience in editing, technical writing, translation, journalism, data annotation, or similarly language-driven, detail-precise work Are comfortable following long, sometimes ambiguous guidelines — and making sound judgment calls within them Have any prior exposure to AI/ML annotation or evaluation work (a plus, not required) Genuinely enjoy deep-focus, detail-heavy problem-solving — this isn't a "half-attention" gig Growth path Reviewer and QA roles are filled from within, based on performance. We regularly promote people already working on our projects. Why it matters Your judgment directly shapes how safely and reliably these AI systems perform in the real world. This is hands-on experience on live AI development work with organizations at the frontier of the field.
