Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Security Officer role located in Halifax, NS. The Security Officer will monitor premises to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access, conducting regular patrols and inspections of assigned areas. The role includes controlling entry and exit points, verifying identification, and responding to alarms or incidents in a calm and professional manner. The Security Officer will prepare clear incident reports, maintain accurate logs, and communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and emergency services when required. Additional responsibilities may include assisting visitors, enforcing site policies, and following company and regulatory safety procedures. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to observe, patrol, and monitor premises effectively, with strong attention to detail and situational awareness. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients, visitors, and law enforcement partners. Proven capability to handle stressful situations calmly, make sound decisions, and de-escalate conflicts when possible. Basic report writing skills, including the ability to document incidents clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner. Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and meet any physical requirements associated with the role. High level of integrity, reliability, and respect for confidentiality and legal compliance. Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require. Relevant security guard certification or license for Nova Scotia (or eligibility to obtain), and prior security or law enforcement experience is an asset. Familiarity with basic security technology and equipment, such as surveillance systems, radios, and access control devices.
