This position is responsible for performing high‑quality welding, fabrication, and repair work on a wide range of heavy mobile equipment used in coal mining. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a demanding industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Perform welding repairs and fabrications on heavy-duty mining equipment, including: Haul trucks Shovels Dozers Loaders Excavators Other surface mining equipment Conduct inspections to identify structural wear, cracks, and component failures. Execute FCAW & SMAW welding processes with precision. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and repair manuals. Work collaboratively with maintenance teams to diagnose issues and minimize equipment downtime. Operate cutting torches, grinders, and other shop fabrication tools. Ensure all work meets safety, regulatory, and company standards. Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and equipment condition. Qualifications Journeyman Welder Certification (Required) Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with heavy industrial or mining equipment. Strong proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, and oxy‑fuel cutting. Experience welding high‑strength steels and wear-resistant materials Ability to work in all weather conditions and challenging environments. Familiarity with mine safety procedures and OH&S regulations Valid driver’s license with clean abstract; ability to operate mobile welding trucks Preferred Assets Previous experience in the coal mining industry.
