UX Researcher / Design Researcher Rate: $75–$85/hr Inc. Contract: 6 months Dates: September 28, 2026 – March 26, 2027 Location: Toronto, ON – 160 Front Street West Work Model: Hybrid – 4 days onsite Positions: 2 Role Overview Seeking experienced UX Researchers / Design Researchers to plan and conduct end-to-end user research supporting digital products and emerging technologies. This is a research-focused role, not a UX Designer position, requiring strong qualitative research expertise combined with quantitative/statistical research capabilities. Key Responsibilities Lead UX research projects from research planning through analysis and final recommendations. Define research questions, develop research plans and select appropriate qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Conduct user interviews, usability testing, ethnographic/observational research, diary studies, card sorting and experimentation/A/B testing. Develop participant screeners and research protocols and coordinate participant recruitment. Perform qualitative, thematic and quantitative analysis of research findings. Translate findings into actionable insights, including personas, journey/experience maps, usability reports and presentations. Develop research strategies and roadmaps aligned with product and stakeholder needs. Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering and business stakeholders. Manage multiple concurrent research studies and priorities. Support research vendors and mentor junior researchers as required. Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholder groups. Must-Have Requirements 5+ years of dedicated UX Research / Design Research experience. Strong end-to-end research experience including planning, recruitment, data collection, analysis and presentation of findings. Strong qualitative research expertise, including user interviews and usability testing. Experience with quantitative/statistical research and analysis. Hands-on experience with research methods such as: Usability Testing User Interviews Qualitative Research Ethnographic Research / Observation Diary Studies A/B Testing / Experimentation Participant Recruitment & Screening Thematic / Data Analysis Personas & Journey Mapping Research Strategy / Research Planning Experience independently leading research projects. Experience with Figma. Strong ability to translate research findings into meaningful and actionable insights. Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Academic background in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Anthropology or a related discipline. Nice to Have Banking or financial services experience. Graduate degree in a relevant research discipline. Knowledge of inferential statistics and tools such as R, SAS or SPSS. Experience researching AI or emerging technologies. Experience building research practices and championing research within large organizations. Understanding of the broader UX/design process. Interview Process Two rounds: initial virtual interview followed by an in-person interview with a research exercise. Requirements
Requires over 5 years of dedicated UX research experience with a strong background in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. An academic degree in Psychology, HCI, Anthropology, or a related field is required.
