THE OPPORTUNITY The Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for assisting the monthly, quarterly and yearly activities of the Corporate Accounting department to ensure quality and accuracy of accounting records and financial reports for our Canadian and US operating and corporate entities. Requires an understanding of full cycle accounting. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Financial reporting: * Prepare, review, analyze and take ownership for branch financial statements and address inquiries and issues * Capable of understanding all cycles of the group’s financial reporting and addressing all routine transactions that arise * Prepare account analyses and supporting documents for routine classes of transactions for operating and corporate entities for interim and year-end audit * Prepares working papers for financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations, that effectively communicate the financial information and provides efficient and meaningful contributions to the team * Be responsible for the maintenance of key financial reporting line items, such as capital assets, intercompany reconciliations, bank reconciliations, rent schedules, property tax entries, etc. * Correspond with stakeholders and other departments to ensure the accuracy of reporting information and investigate any variances Department analysis: * Assist in the appropriate recognition and analyses of deferred labour costs * Analyze parts inventory variance for corporate warehouses and resolve issues with Parts Managers * Assist in the preparation of tax filings and compliance reports * Assist various departments in preparing and completing tasks which impact financial information. Other departments include FP&A, Inventory, Tax, etc..
