Job summary
Job Description As a Sr Underwriter you will manage a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts, evaluating new business opportunities and renewals to ensure profitable growth. Working closely with brokers, you will assess risk, negotiate coverage terms and pricing, and provide underwriting solutions that balance client needs with company objectives. You will build and maintain strong broker relationships, make informed underwriting decisions, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver a high level of service while achieving portfolio performance targets. Required Skills & Experience 5+ years of Commercial Insurance Underwriting experience Bilingual in English and French Insurance license in Quebec Strong experience underwriting General Liability/Casualty risks Exposure to Commercial Property lines Proven experience negotiating with brokers and managing broker relationships Strong understanding of commercial underwriting principles, risk assessment, and pricing Confident decision-maker who can work independently Ability to manage a portfolio while balancing service, profitability, and growth objectives Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Nice to Have Skills & Experience Experience with complex or mid-market commercial accounts CIP, FCIP, CRM, or other insurance designations Established broker network within Ontario and/or Quebec Experience mentoring or coaching junior underwriters Exposure to additional commercial lines beyond Casualty and Property Experience working in a relationship-focused underwriting environment Compensation: $80,000-$90,000/year Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. We may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with the screening, assessment, or selection of potential applicants for this position.
