Our client is a growing specialty insurance organization seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial underwriter to join its Professional and Specialty Liability team. This role offers the opportunity to manage and expand a profitable portfolio while building strong relationships with brokers and carrier partners. The successful candidate will play a key role in underwriting new and renewal business, driving production, and contributing to the continued growth of a well-established specialty insurance operation. Title: Professional Liability Underwriter Location: Downtown Toronto (Hybrid) Key Responsibilities Professional & Specialty Liability Underwriting Underwrite new business submissions from retail brokers Evaluate and negotiate renewal opportunities Manage and maintain an existing book of business Develop new business opportunities through broker relationships Achieve assigned production and profitability objectives Ensure service standards are consistently met Support the growth of specialty liability products including: Medical Malpractice and Healthcare Liability Professional Liability (E&O) Directors & Officers Liability (D&O) Portfolio Management Monitor broker performance and production results Review portfolio profitability and make underwriting adjustments as required Maintain disciplined underwriting practices and profitable risk selection Provide reporting and portfolio insights to senior leadership Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business growth initiatives Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience Experience underwriting Professional Liability, D&O, E&O, Medical Malpractice MGA or specialty insurance experience is considered an asset RIBO, CIP, FCIP, or progress toward designation is preferred Post-secondary education or equivalent industry experience Strong understanding of insurance principles, risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management Knowledge of industry regulations, market trends, and underwriting best practices Proven business development and broker relationship management skills Demonstrated ability to analyze and underwrite complex commercial risks What Our Client Offers Competitive compensation package Annual performance incentive opportunity Comprehensive health and wellness benefits Retirement savings program with employer contribution Professional development and continuing education support Reimbursement for licensing and professional membership fees Hybrid work environment Opportunity to work with a highly respected specialty insurance team Career growth within a dynamic and expanding organization
