Job Summary As a Project Engineer/Project Specialist – Safety, you will support Health & Safety projects across multiple IPEX manufacturing locations throughout Ontario. In this role, you will provide technical expertise and engineering support to enhance machine safety, equipment installations, and regulatory compliance. You will work on a variety of projects from concept through implementation, conducting risk assessments, supporting safety reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Health & Safety teams, you will play a key role in creating safer workplaces while delivering projects on time and within budget. Travel Requirement: up to 30% within Ontario Principal Responsibilities Assist in planning, coordination and execution of Health & Safety engineering projects including but not limited to safety reviews, health & safety initiatives and risk mitigation, ensuring they are completed within budget, timeline, quality and safety standards. Support pre-start health and safety reviews (PSHSR) and reporting per legislation requirements and provide recommendations. Prepare and review Health & Safety engineering project documentation, including procedures, specifications, drawings, reports, and progress updates. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to support successful project delivery and effective communication. Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor project performance against established goals, proactively addressing challenges. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company Health & Safety policies and procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety, operational performance, and reliability. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s in Engineering, ideally in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering Has obtained or working towards obtaining a P. Eng designation Minimum 3 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment or a related industrial setting Knowledge of extrusion and plastic molding equipment is an asset, with ability to analyze mechanical and electrical drawings for machinery Knowledge of computers, AutoCAD & CAD systems and 3D perception Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills Proven ability to lead and influence both internal and external project team Adaptable, highly motivated and continuous learner, with strong analytical and problem solving abilities General knowledge of mechanical concepts, pneumatics, and hydraulics Holds a valid driver’s license and able to travel within Ontario IPEX is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities throughout the recruitment process and, upon request, will work with qualified job applicants to provide suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
