Director of Finance and IT Toronto Food Industry is highly preferred Director of Finance and IT will lead our financial strategy and technological infrastructure to optimize food distribution margins, supply chain efficiency, and digital transformation. This executive role blends hands-on financial controller duties with technology leadership, ensuring our inventory, ERP systems, cold-chain logistics, and multi-channel billing processes are tightly integrated for maximum profitability and data security. Job Summary Job Title: Director of Finance and IT Department: Executive Leadership / Finance & Operations Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chief Operating Officer (COO) Location: Toronto Position Type: 18 Month Contract Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy Direct accounting operations: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, procurement, and billing across wholesale and retail channels. Optimize inventory valuation: Manage product costing, bill of materials (BOM), shrink tracking, and margin analysis across multiple temperature-controlled warehouses. Lead financial planning: Drive annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, cash flow management, and capital expenditure (CapEx) planning for fleet and facility assets. Deliver executive reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, KPI dashboards, and board presentations. Ensure regulatory compliance: Maintain food-distribution industry compliance, manage sales tax automation, and act as primary liaison for external audits. IT Infrastructure & Digital Strategy Own the ERP system: Champion the administration, optimization, and integration of the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP). Integrate warehouse technology: Align the Warehouse Management System (WMS), route accounting, routing software, and electronic logging devices (ELD) with financial ledgers. Automate supply chain data: Expand Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) setups with grocery chains, suppliers, and third-party logistics (3PL) networks. Manage IT vendors: Oversee managed service providers (MSPs), software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreements, hardware lifecycles, and telecom networks. Secure company data: Implement cybersecurity frameworks, regular data backups, disaster recovery plans, and access controls to safeguard financial and customer records. Skills & Qualifications Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Computer Science. Experience: 8+ years of progressive leadership experience combining corporate finance and IT project management. Industry Focus: Direct experience working within food distribution, manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), or cold-chain logistics. Technical Mastery: Deep hands-on knowledge of tier-1 or tier-2 ERP systems, SQL/relational databases, and business intelligence (BI) data pipelines. Communications: Ability to explain technical IT architectures and complex financial metrics to warehouse managers and executive board members alike. Preferred Attributes Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Experience implementing automated routing, warehouse barcode scanning, or AI-driven inventory forecasting tools

Requirements
