Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs Vancouver (Hybrid) This position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment. Public Works Superintendent $90,900.08 - $128,800.00 annually As the Superintendent of Public Works, you will join the University Endowment Lands (UEL) administration team, which manages land use planning, infrastructure services, and regulatory oversight to support a thriving and sustainable community between the University of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver. You will help deliver essential local services that support approximately 4,900 residents, including permitting, taxation, water and waste systems, and the maintenance of public spaces. As the Superintendent of Public Works, you will lead the long-range planning, delivery, and management of critical community infrastructure programs, including water services to a neighbouring jurisdiction. You will develop operational policies, bylaws, and regulations while building strong partnerships with residents, stakeholders, and external agencies to support the effective delivery of public works services. Qualifications for this role include: Education and Experience Requirements: Technical Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum two (2) years’ experience in each of the following: Managing Municipal Public Works operations. Managing and leading teams in a supervisory capacity. Professional Registration and Certification Requirements: Membership or eligible for membership with the Public Works Association of BC and Engineering Operators Certification Program. Preference may be given to applicants with the following: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Experience and qualification as a Level 2 Water Distribution operator. Trades qualification applicable to public works. Basic First Aid or higher level training. Supervising staff in a unionized environment. Requirements
Requires a Technical Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least two years of experience in municipal public works and supervisory roles. Professional membership with the Public Works Association of BC and Engineering Operators Certification Program is required.
